Woman accidentally shoots herself during argument, Mobile police say

According to police, Leticia Miranda grabbed a gun during an argument and accidentally shot herself.

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - A woman faces a charge of first-degree attempted assault after she allegedly pulled a gun during an argument with a man on Friday but reportedly wound up shooting herself in the process.

Leticia Miranda, 35, of Mobile, was booked into the Mobile County Metro Jail on Saturday and released today on a $10,000 bond, jail records show.

Officers were called to a local hospital early Friday afternoon on a report of a woman who had been shot.

According to investigating officers, Miranda had been arguing with a known man in the 5800 block of U.S. 90. During the argument, she alleged grabbed her gun. When a brief struggle ensued, she accidentally shot herself, police said.

Authorities said her injury was minor.

Miranda has a court date scheduled Friday, jail records show.
